I was created to influence people to embrace healthy living. I can remember as a little girl, moving my living room furniture to workout to Jane Fonda. When I was old enough to cook, I would pretend I had a cooking show demonstrating my culinary skills. I knew it was my destiny to promote healthy living and motivate others to live their best life. I have enjoyed doing this for years as a health educator, personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and wellness coach. I have inspired individuals to reach their wellness goals designing award winning wellness programs for worksites, faith-based entities, schools, women, and families. My life experiences have provided the wisdom, empathy and understanding needed to relate to people seeking to balance various aspects of life while seeking to find their joy when dealing with the woes of life. As a divorcee, I refused to let this major setback in my life define me and steal my joy. As a working mother of three, I know what it is like to try to balance work, life, and family. My favorite saying is “She believed she could, so she did” because it reminds me that in order to achieve anything in life, I must first have the confidence and belief in myself to DO IT! We all can use someone to remind us we have the ability to achieve what we set our minds to do! I look forward to motivating you to live a life of purpose, intention, good health, and much happiness!
We are complex individuals living on-the-go demanding lives. We want it all! I completely understand because this was me too! And guess what, trying to have it all made me sick! Staying up late at night working on projects while the kids slept, pulling all nighters, ripping and running during the day just weakened my immune system, created hormonal imbalances, and a complete lack of energy! This can lead to weight gain, chronic diseases, and depression. It all comes with a price when we push our health to the side. So many of us are burned out, anxious, and stress and don't even know it...much less realize the effect these things can have on our bodies. Let's take back control of your life and your health!
My approach to wellness is to assist you in finding balance in life to increase your happiness and improve your health. We will explore all areas of YOU including your physical, mental, social, emotional, spiritual, and occupational health and set small goals to reach your ultimate desire...to live in good health and happiness!
Success in life, health, and happiness can be found by examining the Cs of success which are our choices, challenges, confidence, commitment and consistency. I work with my clients to explore these Cs as we assess the different areas of your life and well-being. This enables us to get to the root of the problem and create a plan of success to achieve life-balance and optimum wellness.
It is important you know my education and credentials as there is a lot of misinformation out in cyberworld when it comes to healthy living. I received my Bachelor of Science in Public Health Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) and my Master of Science in Recreation Administration from North Carolina Central University (NCCU) with a concentration in worksite wellness. I am an ACE Certified Wellness Coach and have completed the UNCG wellness coaching program. I am a trained diabetes prevention lifestyle coach with seven years experience implementing the CDC diabetes prevention program curriculum. Currently, I am an instructor at UNCG teaching mental health & well-being to undergraduate students. I have worked for worksites, government, schools, and faith-based entities designing results-oriented wellness programs. My wellness programs have won awards from the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA), Trident Business Journal, SC Diabetes Symposium, and Imara Magazine. I most enjoy working as a coach and consultant working with individuals and organizations to establish realistic goals to change lives for the better.
